Isaac is a UK retirement planning app for iPhone, iPad, Android and web, built by Budgetwise Limited. It models pensions, tax, property, savings and spending year by year to answer the question nobody else will: the age your money runs out. Free to start; Premium is £7.99/month. No ads, no data selling, no jargon — just honest maths.
The team behind Isaac.
Ben Hall
Co-Founder
Ben is a commercial pilot with a background in finance, having previously worked as a financial analyst. He is the founder of Pilotbase, an aviation platform he built and exited. The combination of a technically demanding career and a lifelong interest in personal finance led him to build the retirement planning tool he couldn’t find anywhere else.
Mike Sutton
Co-Founder
Mike is the former Squadron Boss of 1 Squadron and a published author. He now flies as a special mission pilot. His firsthand experience navigating an armed forces pension and transitioning from a military career into civilian life gives Isaac an authenticity in this space that is hard to replicate — the app was built by people who have lived the problem.
Ethan Flynn-Harding
Co-Founder & CTO
Ethan is a full-stack developer with over 15 years of experience building software, including several fintech startups. He is the architect behind Isaac’s cross-platform app and the pension projection engine that sits at its core — a system precise enough to model UK tax, DB schemes, State Pension, and drawdown strategies year by year.

Isaac has been featured in the Forces Pension Society newsletter and is now a recognised FPS member benefit. FPS members receive a significant discount on Isaac Premium — giving ex-forces personnel the ability to model their armed forces pension as a Defined Benefit scheme, combined with workplace pensions, savings, investments, property, and State Pension in a single plan, with a tax optimisation engine that shows the most efficient way to draw everything down.
“As a former forces member of 18 years, we’re really proud to have this agreement with the Forces Pension Society. So many ex-forces personnel reach retirement without a clear picture of what their pension is actually worth, when they can access it, and how it interacts with the rest of their finances. This partnership is about bringing that clarity to the people who’ve earned it.”
Isaac has partnered with the Civil Service Pensioners’ Alliance and is now a recognised member benefit for retired civil servants and their dependants. CSPA members receive a significant discount on Isaac Premium — enabling them to model their civil service pension as a Defined Benefit scheme alongside workplace pensions, savings, investments, property, and State Pension in a single plan, with a tax optimisation engine that shows the most efficient drawdown sequence year by year.
“Civil servants spend decades building up a pension that, on paper, looks straightforward — a guaranteed income for life. But the reality is more complicated. When does it kick in? How does it interact with the State Pension? What does it mean for a spouse if something happens? These are the questions Isaac answers. We’re really proud to be working with the CSPA to bring that clarity to their members.”
Isaac is now available through Gifteo, offering UK employers a simple way to include retirement planning support as part of their employee benefits package. Employees can access Isaac Premium directly through the Gifteo platform — whether their employer has subscribed as a workplace benefit or they access it as an individual perk. The partnership reflects a growing employer demand for financial wellness tools that go beyond generic guidance and deliver real, personalised numbers.
“We’re really excited to be offered through Gifteo both as an employer benefit and as a direct employee benefit. Financial wellbeing is increasingly part of how great employers look after their people, and retirement planning sits right at the heart of that. We’re hoping this partnership grows alongside Gifteo as they continue to expand their presence across the UK.”
