Community rules
Short, and kept: they’re how this stays a good place to ask about retirement.
Guidance, not advice
Members share their own experience, and the Isaac team gives general guidance. Nothing here is regulated financial advice, and nobody here knows your whole situation. Before you act on something you read here, check it with MoneyHelper (free and impartial), Pension Wise (free, if you’re 50 or over with a defined contribution pension) or a regulated financial adviser.
The rules
- Be kind and patient. Everyone was new to this once. No insults, mockery or pile-ons.
- Share experience, not instructions. Say what you did and why, not what someone else should do with their money. Don’t recommend a particular product, fund, provider or firm to someone.
- Keep personal details private. Yours and other people’s: no phone numbers, email or home addresses, National Insurance numbers, policy or account numbers, or anything that identifies someone.
- Talk here, not in private. Don’t ask people to message, call or email you, and don’t offer to. Genuine help happens in the open.
- No selling. No adverts, referral links, or promoting a business you’re part of, including advice firms.
- Links: official and free guidance (GOV.UK, MoneyHelper, the FCA, the ombudsmen and Isaac’s own pages) is welcome. Other links wait for a check by the team.
- Stay on topic. Retirement, pensions, tax, money in later life and using Isaac. Ideas for Isaac are welcome too: the team may move them to the Good Ideas Club.
- One account, one name. Don’t pretend to be someone else, the Isaac team or an official body.
Scams
Pension scams cost people their savings. Be wary of anyone offering to unlock a pension before 55, “free pension reviews”, guaranteed or unusually high returns, or pressure to act quickly. If something here looks like a scam, report it, and check with the FCA’s ScamSmart.
How we look after it
- A post with a phone number, an email address, a link to a site other than an official one, an offer to talk privately, or words scams use waits for a quick check by the team before anyone else sees it. You’ll see it, marked as waiting.
- Report anything that breaks these rules with the flag on the post. When three members report a post, it’s hidden until the team has looked.
- The team removes posts that break the rules, can close a thread, and can stop someone posting for a while, or for good. If you think we got it wrong, email support@isaacmoney.com.
- The Isaac team’s posts are marked as general guidance. We’ll never ask for your password, your bank details or to move your money.
